A Great Taste Winner 2018!

Great Taste, the world’s most coveted food awards, celebrating the very best in food and drink, has announced the Great Taste stars of 2018. Out of over 12,600 products to be judged, me - The Choc Spot in St Albans - was awarded a 1-star Great Taste award - yippee!

That in a nutshell means judges thought it a food that delivers fantastic flavour and said my Chocolate & Raspberry Brownies were " Very moreish - a really appealing crispy, crackly top. Delicious well balanced flavours and a wonderful texture.”

Judged by over 500 of the most demanding palates, belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs and producers, as well as a whole host of food writers and journalists, Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers. As well as a badge of honour, the black and gold Great Taste label is a signpost to a wonderful tasting product. I still can't believe I am among the winners, it's so exciting

As a new baking business it felt important to get acknowledgement from a truly trusted body, and I’m delighted that chefs and foodie professionals loved my Chocolate & Raspberry Brownies enough to award them a star. I’m so pleased to be a Great-Taste Winner within my first year of trading and will be proud to display this logo.

Recognised as a stamp of excellence among consumers and retailers alike, Great Taste values taste above all else, with no regard for branding and packaging. Whether it is vinegar, granola, bacon or cheese being judged, all products are removed from their wrapper, jar, box or bottle before being tasted. The judges then savour, confer and re-taste to decide which products are worthy of a 1-, 2- or 3-star award. It feels very special to be among the 2018 winners and I'm looking forward to seeing the Great Taste bunting fluttering in the breeze on my stall at the next Farmer's Market in September. Thanks to everyone who has helped to make this dream a reality, it just keeps on getting better and better.
